Work In Progress

Some ideas change the way you think. Some change the way you live. "Work In Progress" by Virgil Abloh did both for me.

It's rare for a single concept to apply across so many aspects of life—design, coding, problem-solving, entrepreneurship, even personal growth. But WIP makes room for imperfection. It gives you space to build, ship, iterate, and evolve.

Virgil Abloh was more than a designer. He blurred the lines between fashion, art, and architecture, shifting culture in the process. In his 2017 Harvard lecture, "Insert Complicated Title Here," he laid out his creative ethos: design is never truly finished. Perfection is a myth. Progress is what matters.

That mindset changed how I approach code. Instead of obsessing over a perfect solution, I ship phase one. Functional, imperfect, but real. It changed how I think about life. I don't need to have all the answers right now. I'm a work in progress, and that's okay.

That's why my handle has been @anas.wip for almost a decade now. It's not just a name—it's a badge of honor. A reminder that no matter how much I grow, I'm always evolving.

Virgil believed in mentors—dead or alive. I never met him, but I attribute much of my philosophy to him. I'm proud to carry his legacy forward. RIP Virgil. Forever a WIP.
